First Line: powdered oral nutritional supplements

These should be mixed to manufacturer's instructions with 200mls full fat milk. These products are not suitable as sole source of nutrition and should not be used as tube feed.

Prescribe if the patient is likely to have difficulties preparing a first line powdered ONS or has lactose intolerance.

Milkshake style - Preferred choice, if patient can tolerate milky drinks, suitable for people with diabetes.
